Y'all Daisy Grant got herself a DRESSING ROOM

Y'all, not gonna lie that it took me more than a HAWT minute to try & WERK some kinda makeover magic that would do justice to the phenom that is STAR Patina Miller. I mean this gal is talent, beauty and BEYOND DOT COM.  She plays Daisy Grant on CBS' Madam Secretary, but she's also in The Hunger Games Mockingjay-- Parts 1 & 2, oh and a Tony winner for her role on Broadway in Pippin'. We don't take that shiot lightly. Here's what we started with:

Ohhhh...that was a whole lotta heinousness...here's where we are NOW:

Yasssssss!!!! I MEAN. Total and complete STYLESLAPP-ERY has occurred in this dressing room. (It's not styled & these aren't pro pics, but too excited to share to wait any longer!) Now, at first, it was a huge style snag: the existing furniture, carpet, wall color and overhead fluorescent light-- all had to stay. So rather than hiding those elements, I embraced them: the carpet & paint colors became my jumping off points in my overall design. Z Gallerie has TAKEN US THERE w/some of these glorious accessories...And when I found this scrumptious HomeGoods area rug with these saturated colors, I knew the SHIOT WAS ON!

Remember this is where someone's design inspiration had been a stew...gravy beige walls, mustardy carpeting...

But then I got in the kitchen and cooked this UP!

Damn! Let me continue to remind y'all what this wall looked like BEFORE:

And shut the F$%K YOU look at it NOW! Our friends at photos.com nailed it with these stunning framed photographs of some of Patina's all-time favorite female performers! Tina, Ella and Eartha help make this space more cozy, personalized & sassy for Patina...

I wanted the look of a miniature salon style gallery wall, so even though all our prints are black and white, I deliberately chose to print one of the diva's larger, to vary things up. I also scored these ornate gilded ledges ($5 each at Goodwill!!!! YASSSS! #thriftwhore) that bring some gold bling, visual interest & three dimensionality to the wall, another trick I like to use in creating a salon style gallery wall. (Oh, even though those prints look like they're leaning, they are safely hung with proper hanging hardware). I continued the same three dimensionality idea over to this other wall using the Z Gallerie Scoppio wall decor. This keeps the eye moving around the space and provides even more high impact, visual interest. And gold bling. Also, the new lamps are helping to add better ambient lighting, canceling out some of that harsch overhead fluorescent glare...

Now THAT'S a properly sized mirror for a dressing room! And Patina lurvs her some fur luxury so had to make sure she had plenty of that draping about, as one does! Her previous 'entryway' had a refrigerator as catch-all...

Now it's gone all kinds of GORG with this mirrored 'command central' console from HomeGoods, that's bouncing around all kinds of sparkly light! She's got a swank spot to work & eat from (bit of drawer storage, a wall mounted pin board that doubles as art & the tufted bench tucks underneath for a seat). The ZGallerie canister can also store items while looking amazing in the process...

Oh & the pin board is a custom Alchemy Eclectic number made by moi, using a repurposed vintage frame that's the perfect shade of teal-y blue...with GOLD push pins, naturally.

This little HomeGoods side table guy, along with these two storage boxes are giving her even more storage capability and lookin' super cute in the process...oh and that's A LOT of decorative drama detail for a $5 ledge! WHAT?!

By adding another fab studded storage box, this existing side table got more chic AND functional...

I'm thrilled at how it turned out and Patina LOVES it!!! Rather than fight the existing elements I was able to transform this windowless space with strategic ambient lighting, luxurious textiles & varying reflective finishes like lucite, mirror and hits of gold. Also gave Patina more storage and pieces that do double duty in a relatively small space. With personality to boot! How yummy is that?

***A special shout out to our friends at Z Galllerie and Photos.com for their generous support and chicness!!!
